This beautiful carved gutta percha cameo brooch in black is we believe from around 1885. This brooch is in good condition for its age, no chips or cracks that we see. This would have been a piece of mourning jewelry worn during Victorian age.
Gutta Percha was used for jewelry from the mid 19th century to the late 19th century in both America and Europe. Gutta percha is a resin from the sap of certain tree's in Malaysia.
This is a gorgeous piece from the Victorian Era!!
